The National Capital Fencers Club is proud to announce the inception of "The Dwayne Dickerson Award". This monetary award is to be given to every graduating high school senior in our program who is a full time member of NCFC. Dwayne Dickerson was one of the founding members of NCFC and his daughter Ashley Dickerson competed for NCFC from 2009-2016. Dwayne attended every competition and his love for our club and its mission was unmatched.
The National Capital Fencers Club is proud to announce that the Catholic Business Network has recognized the National Capital Fencers Club as its "Catholic Schools Business Partner of the Year." The National Capital Fencers Club is the only non-profit fencing club in Washington D.C. and for the past 6 years has provided weekly fencing instructions for over 300 students at no costs to the parents or students. In addition to the fencing instruction the National Capital Fencing Club also provided equipment, insurance and membership to the United States Fencing Association for the students.
Additionally, the Catholic Business Network has also named Coach George King as its "Catholic Schools Volunteer of the Year." Coach King of the National Capital Fencers Club teaches fencing 3 days a week at the St. Augustine Catholic School in Washington, D.C. He travels with all students who compete in local fencing competitions.
The National Capital Fencers Club is expanding!
In January 2017 the National Capital Fencers Club began a partnership with Georgetown Day School (lower and middle school) 360 Program. NCFC began providing fencing lessons to GDS students 2 days a week and currently have 21 students enrolled in the program.
American Daryl Homer wins Silver Medal in the mens individual saber event in Rio Olympics! Daryl started fencing at the Peter Westbrook Foundation in New York. NCFC is patterned after the Westbrook Foundation and shares its vision of bringing the sport of fencing to inner city youth. Peter was a Bronze Medalist at the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles. Daryl is the first American man to win a Silver Medal in fencing in 112 years!
